CIBF2025 Concludes in Shenzhen, Charting Course for Zero-Carbon Future

SHENZHEN, China – The 17th China International Battery Technology Exchange/Exhibition (CIBF2025) successfully concluded on May 17 at the Shenzhen World International Exhibition Center, having served as a powerful showcase of the global battery industry's innovative drive towards a sustainable future.

Held from May 15 to 17 under the theme "Linking the Globe, Empowering Green, Driving the Future," the event solidified its role as a vital barometer and accelerator for the energy sector. It attracted over 3,200 leading exhibitors and more than 400,000 professional visitors from over 70 countries and regions, spanning an expansive exhibition area of 300,000 square meters.

The event was hosted by the China Industrial Association of Power Sources (CIAPS).

A Platform for Global Collaboration and China's Green Shift

In the opening ceremony, Zheng Hongyu, Chairman of the CIBF2025 Organizing Committee and CIAPS, positioned 2025 as a critical turning point for China's new energy sector, transitioning from "scale expansion" to "quality leap". He highlighted the robust growth of China's new energy industry, with notable first-quarter increases in exports: 441,000 new energy vehicles (a surge of 43.9%) and 37.8 GWh of power batteries (up 21.5% year-on-year). This data underscores the profound shift from "Made in China" to "Created in China".

The exhibition served as a comprehensive platform, showcasing innovations across the entire battery value chain, from materials and equipment to cell manufacturing and recycling.

Next-Generation Battery Technologies Take Center Stage

A key focus was the demonstration of disruptive technologies on the cusp of mass adoption.

  • Solid-State Batteries: Companies showcased significant progress. BYD unveiled a mass-production line model for all-solid-state batteries, while Xiongtao Co., Ltd. introduced a new 60Ah solid-state battery featuring in-situ polymerized solid electrolyte technology, enhancing safety for data centers and energy storage systems.

  • High Energy Density: CATL reportedly premiered its third-generation condensed matter battery, with an energy density exceeding 500 Wh/kg.

  • Sodium-Ion and Beyond: SVOLT Energy highlighted its short-blade battery with 6C fast-charging capability. Exhibits also featured advancements in sodium-ion batteries and hydrogen fuel cells, indicating a diverse technological roadmap.

Fast Charging and Smart Manufacturing Solutions Accelerate

The "High-Rate Battery & High-Power Fast-Charging Technology" session, part of the Advanced Battery Frontier Technology Symposium, highlighted the push for quicker, smarter energy solutions.

  • EV Fast-Charging: Companies like Huawei Digital Power presented megawatt-level ultra-fast charging technology for commercial vehicles, claiming 600 km of range with a 10-minute charge for heavy-duty trucks.

  • Wireless Charging: The Chinese Academy of Sciences' Institute of Electrical Engineering shared breakthroughs in dynamic wireless charging, enabling vehicles to charge while driving, with system efficiency reaching up to 92%.

  • Manufacturing Innovation: SVOT's "Thermal Composite Flying Lapping" technology was presented as a key enabler for all-solid-state battery production, simplifying four traditional processes into one and boosting productivity by 100%.

Emphasis on Sustainability and Full Life-Cycle Management

The industry's focus on a circular economy was evident. The event featured discussions on battery passport systems and sustainable development, and companies like Gotion High-Tech displayed innovations in automated dismantling and cascade utilization for end-of-life batteries. The release of whitepapers, including the Low-Altitude Aircraft Battery Standardization White Paper, further promoted standardized and sustainable development.

With the convergence of global expertise and groundbreaking innovations, CIBF2025 has reinforced its position as a cornerstone event for the energy storage industry. By fostering collaboration across the entire battery ecosystem, the exhibition has provided significant momentum for the global transition to a zero-carbon future.
